New Vanity Fair article: Deadly Medicine

Interesting article about how most pharmaceutical testing is now done overseas and how the FDA has little to no oversight. Paxil and Seroquel are among the drugs mentioned.

Re: New Vanity Fair article: Deadly Medicine

Thanks for posting the link to this article! I'm going to read it as soon as I get a chance, hopefully later this evening.

There was an appalling expose of the circumstances of clinical trials done even in this country, in the New Yorker magazine a couple of years ago, called "Guinea-pigging" - it's archived on their site.

And the current issue of the New Yorker (Dec. 13 issue) has an article that looks very interesting, about how initial studies start proving unreliable over time. I only read approx the first page because the library was closing LOL.

It starts out about what they're now learning about the actual effectiveness of antipsychotics, but mentions antidepressants etc. also. but there's an abstract at http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2...fa_fact_lehrer and the beginning of the article is posted online by the author at http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/20...uth-wears-off/

Sorry if any of these were already posted - I don't read here all the time but don't recall seeing them here.
