Night sweats

The past two nights I have been waking up completely soaked in sweat. I go back to sleep and wake up the same way. Please tell me this goes away.

Re: Night sweats

Very common and there are dozens of threads about it. Night sweats can't hurt you, they're just annoying.

I don't know how old you are, but be prepared for a crap load of sweating, once you start with peri menopause symptoms.

I am 32 years old. I went off zoloft before but never had the night sweats. Tried searching on here but nothing seemed to come up. (threads and posts)
Glad to know its common.

Re: Night sweats

VERY common. In fact I woke up this morning with wet spots on my shirt. It was way worse when I was I on higher doses. I would wake up soaked and freezing. I also have a habit of cocooning myself in my blankets which contributes to the sweating. It's perfectly normal with these drugs though.

Re: Night sweats

I hope. Actually, lastnight wasn't that bad just mild sweat. Thankfully, I wasn't soaking wet and freezing. Thank you guys for letting me know I'm not alone.

Re: Night sweats

I also did have it sometimes around my neck area.. it mostly happened
in times, when i started eating a lot..

I started cutting my eating after 4 p.m... I just drink liquid (not sugery)
or very light food like fruit or small salad after this time.
And i also limited my carbonhdrate intake and drink a lot herbal and green tea during the day.
that helped and stopped my night sweatinings )

Re: Night sweats

I had these for months while I was tapering. Sooooooooo annoying ... having to change the sheets, your jammies, and all of the blankets in the middle of the night is not much fun. Plus whatever was coming out of my skin at the time bleached out the sheets .... all of the sheets that we used when I was tapering have bleached out spots on my side of the bed. Very freaky.

That is definitely strange. I haven't had the night sweats recently... YAY! Hope they continue to stay away.

Re: Night sweats

Hi,
I took my last dose of Zoloft about three weeks ago after a 2.5 year taper from 300mg max for about 20 years altogether on antidepressants.

I have been sweating like crazy at night, then I become freezing cold, especially if I get out of bed, then I start shaking uncontrollably, almost seizure like and it is hard to get warm again. Sometimes I drench the sheets and feels slippery with water all over. It makes me know this withdrawal in the most classic way.

Hi JessiG. I think I saw you over on Depression Forums. I just joined here. Seems a more active forum with a warm moderation and lots of up to date information. Good to not be alone in this.

Re: Night sweats

Wear a dri-fit shirt to bed. When you sweat, you won't stick to the sheets or freeze when you kick back your sheets. There are tons of brands out there, even *house* brands that can be bought for under $10. They wick away the sweat from your skin and make your sheets less damp.

Re: Night sweats

Hi, I am new and working my way through journals. Night sweats? I have had and still hot flushes but thought that was post menopause thing. Don't tell me that is also withdrawal??? What about early menopause. I had only been on Aropax 2 years and bingo, menopause at age 42!

Night sweats are actually a documented side effect of Paxil. Yes, when you're in your 40s, there's the whole hormonal thing to consider, but for many of us (myself included) we started Paxil in our 20s, or earlier.

Re: Night sweats

I have night sweats about 3 days prior to my period. I am 44 and not pre-menopausal at all. However, night sweats are more pronounced the older I get. My periods are regular every 28 days.

I had an entire work-up done recently with bone density, hormones, etc. Pre-menopause is an actual "stage" of menopause and my doctor said I am not pre-menopausal at all. But at my age I am sure it's around the corner.

You will feel so much better if you get a dri-fit shirt. You won't stick to the sheets, freeze or drip with sweat. Spend $10 and get a good nights sleep.

I started with night sweats at age 44...period was like clockwork until age 50.

Yep. I have night sweats now all the time, I'm 43 and have been off Paxil for 4 years. Period is like clockwork, but I'm absolutely going through hormonal changes and peri-menopausal with hot flashes, night sweats, cycle changes (lighter and shorter) I also have to disagree with your doctor, Jen. This is the definition of peri-menopause http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/perimenopause/DS00554 and how it was explained to me by my gyno.

I'm not sure what your doctor means by "stage" of menopause. Menopause is when you don't have a period for 12 months.

Re: Night sweats

Hi Laurie...now I am confused, first scotty, ok not real name. I thought Laurie was male but now he had periods until 50! I guess I'll get it soon.

I forgot the person who said their Dr. said (sorry, it was JenS) they are not pre-menopausal. My Dr. said I definitely was not because I was too young. I was 42 and had 2-3 periods in the year. The following year Dr. still said it was not possible and that year I had 1 period. The following Dr. still adamant not menopause and that year I had none. Never seen one since.

In all the 17 year

I will try and learn how to do that quote thing. About the sweating/hot flushes - In all these 17 years I was not aware that was a documented thing.
