psychiatric drugs and OCD
I wanted to ask hear if anyone knows if SSRIS cause obsessive compulsive disorder, I don't mean withdrawal from them, but taking ssri drugs, I know they prescribe i believe luvox for OCD, but I wandered if it can cause ocd, can it worsen it in peopke who have it, or can it also cause it in people who never had ocd before, like i said, not withdrawal but taking ssris.
THANKS GUYS SHANE

Re: psychiatric drugs and OCD
Hi Shane,
I can only say that my OCD had disappeared when I was under SSRIs and they increased a lot in withdrawal (Not at the beginning but after several months.)

Re: psychiatric drugs and OCD
Shane,
I was put on Zoloft for OCD, and I can tell you without a doubt that it made my OCD worse. But I did not know that the drug was making me worse at the time, because the psychiatrist who prescribed it to me never had a followup appointment or monitored me. I wish I had realized it at the time, but you never think a "medicine" that a doctor gives you would make you worse.
