Re: 10 years too long on paxil

Jo

I am glad you took this day for yourself. You deserve it. He will understand that you needed time. We all do sometimes, don't feel guilty.

This is what helps us get through these tough times, is to take care of ourselves and by doing that you will be better companny for him later.

Seems like we all go through times of hating people I think it is normal during w/d. It fades after a while. Just feels like they don't have a clue as to what is going on with us and what is really important in life.

Hoping tomorrow is better.

Jo,

This is not the real you coming back. You are describing classic withdrawal.
You are doing great! Look how far you have come. Remember: it's about windows and waves....you are simply in a wave right now.
It WILL pass.

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

feel great and have done for a few days now. still have these negative thoughts (my current one is that no one likes me but is manageable; it is not overwhelming me like it did previously.

i do think it might be OCD I have because it is the same thoughts over and over again. I just keep trying to blitz them with cbt but get sick of writing the same thing all the time!

anyway the main thing is I am feeling better. I am going to hold at this dose a couple more weeks though. Fancy a stable mood for a while – that will be a novelty ha ha

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

Jo that's so great to hear you have been feeling better

I had to laugh at your comment about a stable mood being a novelty! I've also had a few good days after almost 4 weeks since my last drop and just before I said to my partner that I wanted to stay on it now for a few more weeks so I can enjoy it!

I've also been doing some cognitive work (mindfulness) but instead of having to write my thoughts down, I simply acknowledge the thought, name it and then let it go. I find it simpler for me than traditional CBT.

Enjoy the window of peace that has opened-remember it will be open for longer and longer periods as time goes on

J

Hang in there. You're doing great. 8 mg: that's well under half of the dose you were on only a year ago.

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

also feeling really anxious. unhappy with my husband as feel he is too preoccupied with his work and not there for me, don't know if these feelings are real or whether it is just depression as i do feel mild depression. dont know whether i am just negatively over-analysing everything. i mean he is working now and not giving me any attention but thats because i told him i was working on my assignment! feel like he is going to get sick of me and my moods

Jo,

Thanks so much for posts about the chanting. I've been using it for EVERYTHING and have noticed results already. Do you think it's ok to chant while driving or in the shower? I imagine it's better to do it as an exercise all on its own, just wondering though. Great to see that you are doing well, joannexo

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

hi joanne
that's great! so pleased you are giving it a go! you won't regret it. it is absolutely fine to chant while driving and in the shower. the more the better! it is more focussed when you sit in front of a blank wall (eventually you can become a member and receive gohonzon which is a paper scroll and u then chant in front of that).

i know it is hard to find the time but absolutely worth it. i have made an effort to chant 30 mins twice a day lately and feel fantastic. of course, you don't need to do this much to benefit as that is obviously a lot for someone just starting out.

there are 3 parts to the practise; faith, study and practise. faith means to chant, study means learning about buddhism and practise means attending meetings. the main meeting is the monthly discussion meeting. This is a really great meeting for inspiring you and helping you learn more about the practise. the members are all really supportive!

The books you could try are Buddha in Daily Life Richard Causton, Buddha in your mirror,Woody Hochswender or Buddha Geoff and me, Eddy Canfor-Dumas.

The more you find out about the practise the more benefit you can get from it.

anyway if you have any further questions please ask away!

great that you have had so many windows lately
JO

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

dizziness has hit me 3 days after my drop.

i am documenting here that I feel good and have done for a while. Yes I have some anxious thoughts but overall I feel well and happy. The reason I am writing this here is because when i feel w/d induced depression I find it hard to believe I have ever felt happy during this process. This is a distortion!

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

Jo,
Got your pms, thanks so much, also for the suggestions above, really helpful!
I think the practice is definitely making a difference in my life specifically with my attitude and general frame of mind. Who would've thought? I have no idea why it's working but I'm not one to question the good things God lays in my path. I'm just grateful.

I can relate to your last post. Yes, withdrawal lies to us, BIG time.
When I 'm struggling, I can never remember my windows, the darkness is just overwhelming......coming back here to read my old entries doesn't relieve my suffering at those times, but it does give me hope that things will change. So it's a good thing to record both the good and bad, I think.

Great to hear you are doing well.

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

feeling anxious today. no reason whatsoever! i am having a lovely relaxing day reading my kindle but is just a general feeling of fear with no particular cause. this is obviously withdrawal as i dropped about a week ago. i have to keep telling myself that anxiety cannot hurt me and that these feelings are NOT REAL

Re: 10 years too long on paxil

still feeling good and have done really since late july. i just feel GREAT really. don't get me wrong, i have the odd anxiety but nothing i can't cope with. it is not easy either. i do have to work at it. I do my CBT daily. ALSO I am chanting about one hour a day now and i can say it has made a massive difference. just wonderful to feel so good.

sorry i hope i am not gloating here. it might give others hope!
