i hate hot weather!!!! cold is better

hot weather causes anxiety and panic attacks. seems like the world is going to explode or your going to die from the heat.

cold is better cause sometimes i get a panic attack, i would just simply run out and let the cold freeze my ***.

but for some friggin reason this year has been hot all year round. i'ts starting to be like 60 or high 50s around my town.

Hot Weather

Railand: I can relate to what you're saying as the weather was still hot when I had my first panic attack. The month was October but the temps were really high that month. I live in Indiana and right now the temperature is 80 degrees. Back then hardly anyone had air conditioning so sometimes when I was having a panic attack I would stick my head in the freezer so I could breathe. Thank God we've had air conditioning for years now otherwise I might still be having the panic attacks. Another freakish thing about my panic attacks was that I used to get them when there was a big snow on the ground and I couldn't see anything green. I always felt like I was going to smother but if I saw a bush or shrub that was green I was okay.

I could go on and on about the different things that triggered my panic attacks and my reactions to them but would take forever to write everything down.

Do you take any type of medication for this problem?

I wish.

Railand: You need to be on some type of medication for your panic attacks. That doesn't necessarily mean you need to start taking Paxil. I take Klonopin for my anxiety and Lexapro for my depression. I took Paxil for about a year but it caused me to gain so much weight that I had my doctor switch me to Prozac. I was on that for around 2 years, then it stopped working for me so the last time I went to the doctor he put me on the Lexapro.

Do you only have panic attacks or do you have depression too?

The best medication I've ever taken for panic attacks was Xanax. It's highly addictive but so are most of the anxiety and depression medications.

If I felt as bad as you sound I would certainly see my doctor and have him put you on some type of medication to make you feel better. There is no reason for you to sit there and suffer when you can be taking something to make you feel better.

what railand needs is to listen to the advice given to him.. learn the tools on the sites shown to you.. see a psychologist that can help you learn how to stop thinking like this. a medication will only delay the inevitable fact that you will have to face it.

Hehe, we're only sharing what was experienced. This doesn't mean they will happen to you. I think you're judging for yourself that it's scary. I'm still here and I've been through all of it!
