Bad Depression

Ahh I feel awful right now.... just got off the phone with my mom and a few minutes later started feeling very depressed. I just feel so bad and so tired.

I know this is temporary. I hate it now though. I'm sorry to beg for encouragement but I need it.

I thought I was having a few bad days but over the past month I feel like I've just been getting worse and worse. How can this happen with such a slow taper

Keep your chin up Newb. You're in a bad wave right now which is not unusual. I think you're a student and not working right now? How long have you been really feeling bad? Can you force yourself up to do even a walk around the block? I think you need to try and find a distraction that will help you stop focusing on how you're feeling.

It's gets better. I've seen many people in the same spot as you on this site over the past year with depression and they all got better.

Re: Bad Depression

I agree, getting outdoors for some exercise and sunshine can really help lift your mood. Just keep telling yourself that this will pass. Depression is really common in withdrawal but it doesn't last forever. I guess that's true of "non-withdrawal" depression too; studies show it lifts on its own within a short amount of time, whether medicated or not.

Another thing to consider is that your bad feelings started right after talking with your mom - maybe something was said in that conversation that served as a trigger for you.

Re: Bad Depression

Warbird. I tapered down from .6 my to.02mg and came off in may. I didn't feel 100percent but I was functional and very proudcu give for 2 months. I started feeling bad at the beginning of July, and have felt very badly for the past3-4 days (which has been the time that ice been experiencing depression.

I do go for very brief walks outside, but even they are exhausting. I don't really know anything about cbt but I downloaded an app and have been using it. For the past few days. I just feel like I'm in the throes of my initial cold trkey withdraw.. Unable to basically even feed myself ( due to low energy). And now depression and insomnia are hitting to boot

Thank you very much for ur reply. Any reply is very helpful to me

Thank u babs for ur reply!

I do try but I'm experiencing several symptoms, including low energy and very low tolerance to physical stress and it makes even hose activities difficult.

I think u are right about convo with my mom. She asked if I was having suicidal thoughts and I gave an uncertain answer. She said I needed to go back on Paxil.... Or be on something. She didn't pressure me but just suggested it and maybe that set me off.

Re: Bad Depression

Are you still taking magnesium glycinate? I had much worse symptoms when taking it and felt better after I quit.

Re: Bad Depression

I am actually and it's funny u mention that because I usually don't take it in the morning and I did this morning and it was about an hour or two later that ideally started feeling bad....maybe I should switch to another kind of magnesium ...

You found one that works better?

Thanks for ur input!

Re: Bad Depression

Magnesium malate seemed OK, but I finally decided I was better without any magnesium supplements. I use a cup or 2 of epsom salts in the bathwater several times a week, which is supposed to be absorbed thru the skin, and try to eat foods with magnesium. Even small doses of magnesium glycinate caused problems for me.

Re: Bad Depression

Interesting. I took it throughout my taper at about 100mg every two or three days and don't think I had any problems... But now I'm sort of questioning because as I've felt bad over the weeks I've been takin it more frequently. Someone in another thread suggested magnesium oil that u spray on it body. I wonder how that works?

I think I may try going off the glycerinate. Perhaps i took such a low dose and so infrequently that I couldn't distiguish between withdraw and the supp and maybe I am just much ore sensitive now.

Re: Bad Depression

I agree that getting outdoors helps! I have had a rough time with depression sonce I started my taper and especially once i stopped my meds. look up earthing/grounding. I really feel that this has helped me! On my days where I felt awful just getting out in the grass helped a lot!

Re: Bad Depression

i'm a newbie to the forum.. but not to withdrawing from benzo's and ambien.. - the benzo w/d was pretty difficult.

I do know there is a light at the end of the tunnel - having withdrawn from the other meds.

Just wanted you to know that I care..

Re: Bad Depression

Hi there! I'm sorry you are dealing with this! I have just been online several times this week because I am dealing with the very same thing! I hate it! I just quit paxil 14 days ago and at first no depression just lots of dizziness and achy and headaches but now I have moments of being so down and crying constantly and then I have moods where I'm very irritable and just want to punch something because of how I feel. It has been playing havoc with my thoughts a lot but I have just been trying to get out and at least go walk around in my yard or take a drive somewhere close to a park or something and get out and just try to relax. I keep telling myself this will end soon and that it is just withdrawal....not me! Just stay positive and know you/we will get through this!

Re: Bad Depression

Pretty good. I've started a new job as a teacher and I'm handling it quite well considering I've been thrown into a subject I know little about, with little guidance as far as lesson plans, and have been working 14 hour days and dealing with new situation after new situation and been traveling for the past 4 weeks.

Little if any depression. Some dizziness some weakness.

but generally not much to speak of... I do have lingering digestive issues however, specifically my acid reflux started a few months back and has been on and off for some time
