Opinions please!

Hello everyone!

I am going to start my paxil taper today for a third attempt. I plan on taking the slow route, I am nervous but excited too!

I am thinking of trying to go down one miligram per month using liquid paxil (I currently am on 20 mgs) While I understand everybody is different, would you think this is too slow?

OR, I was thinking of maybe going from 20 to 18 mgs ( 10%) and then 18 to 16, and then 16 to 14,, then go 1 mg a month as soon as I reach 10 mgs (In my previous attempts I noticed that things go crazy beneath the 10 mg mark), or should I just stick to 1 mg a month from the getgo?

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Many people can drop by 1mg at the beginning, but as your dose gets lower, 1mg drops are too large. We recommend 10% or less of your current dose every 4-6 weeks.

Wishing you a safe journey... Im updosing at the moment...with the aim of starting a slow taper. And with all the horror stories Ive read about Effexor... I am thinking of starting at 5 or even 3.5% (ie a drop of 10 from 300)...I'll be very interested in following your progress.

Re: Opinions please!

The thing about dropping by a set amount (say, 1mg) is that it's fine at the beginning since 1mg is only 5% of 20mg, but as you continue to get lower in dose, 1mg is 20% of 5mg, and a whopping 50% of 2mg. So you might get away with 1mg drops until you reach mid-taper, but you probably need to have another plan in mind as you get below 10mg.

Re: Opinions please!

Thank you all for your replies!

Apparently, liquid paroxetine is now discontinued... Only BRAND NAME Paxil is avial in liquis but it costs too much!

The only way to go from 20 mgs to 18 is going to have to be in liquid correct ? There is no way of doing it with the pills?

Thank you!
