10 months off, weird bipolar like symptoms

Hey, I'm coming up to 10 months off citalopram and recently I've started to experience some new symptoms which are pretty bad. I have had physical symptoms for months but recently my mood has taken a turn for the worse.

I've started to feel foggy headed a lot (its almost like the start of feeling depressed without the low mood) and sometimes it keeps getting worse and turns into a depression for a day or two. Last week I felt very depressed on the monday but then by the thursday I was hyper and feeling a bit manic. It's like bipolar like symptoms only very rapid changing, it's really pretty freaky. I've never really experienced anything like this before taking an SSRI.

I'm just posting here to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar. The depression in particular is quite bad at times, but it always goes away within 48 hours so I keep reminding myself that it will be over soon. The posts on here help to comfort me and keep me going through this long recovery process.

I believe that 9 months from now I will be significantly improved. It's just very strange, ever month I have new symptoms. It's like, I can't make any plans because I never know how I will feel 1 day to the next.

I know exactly how you feel it's only been three months for me if it's not one damn thing it's another and I'm so highly pissed because doctors just don't give two flying ducks what they put you on or how it will effect you now every day I have to live not knowing how I'm going to feel from day to day it sucks balls now I'm having heart anxiety !

Re: 10 months off, weird bipolar like symptoms

I am almost 8 mnths off. A couple of mnths ago I began getting that strange crushing depression/despair feelings. It feels like a chemically induced depression. When it started it lasted 3-4 days at a time and recently its turned into 1-2 times a day but just for a few hours. At first too I thought "is this bipolar" because it cycles daily for me (in the same day). Its not as intense for me anymore but it still drives me crazy and scares me, well, because all these mental symptoms scare me. Its a strange feeling because when I'm hit with it I feel totally hopeless and like its permanent but then it lifts in the same day and I think "that wasn't so bad" and feels like it was a dream. I don't ever feel manic by any means but I think just feeling happy can be classified as manic when the low mood is so extremely low. I've been afraid I'm manic but then realize all I am is just hopeful and happy, its just so rare since over a year now (tapering and being in wd for so long).

I haven't felt bi-polor or anything but my moods and feelings jump from one day to the next for sure. I can totally relate to not making plans and can't wait till the day I can. It is so horrible to not know how you will fell one day to the next.

last time i went off paxil..i was off it for 8 months with minimal stuff..nausea and a few small things..then SMACK, all the mental stuff started..it was a horrible nightmare..that continued for 3 months before i could not take it any longer and went back on so i could get stable then taper off really slow, which i have been doing now coming up to 2 years of a really slow taper..

No I haven't taken any alcohol or drugs since I started the meds. I don't even like to take pain medication when I have a headache.

Wow, mapelafgril25 that sounds bad, I hope I'll feel better soon.
