Hi! welcome to the forum!
you know, as many persons who have been off paxil for a long time, it is hard so say if what you are experiencing is withdrawal, another health/mental issue or if it is just your "old self" coming back... I have been paxil free for 6 months and I still have physical AND emotionnal problems. Also, it depends on how long you took paxil. I was on it for about 5 years so I guess it is possible that I have more problems than a person that has been on it for only 2 months : my brain is "used" to get his paxil!!! first step I think is to check with a doctor to be sure you dont have some disease-probably not the case but... Second step, if you have not done it, is to work with a psychologist (or other therapist but psychologist are the most well trained) the issues that made you to go on paxil in the first place. And after that, well, I am at that state, and pretty desperate so, I dont know what to tell you!

the changes were pretty obvious after the paxil. i did have anxiety and depression before. But, the symptoms were different.

I am experiencing profound long term effects from antidepressant withdrawal (remeron/effexor) that is dramatically different from any depression or anxiety that i have ever experienced. My symptoms include feelings of being in a mental fog, poor memory, slowed cognition, social fears, anxiety, depression, irritability, profound loss of motivation, difficulty processing social stimuli, stiff muscles, muscle twitches, confusion and the list goes on and on and on.
I believe that there is reason for hope that time will make a difference. I base this on reading a few posts from people who have still been improving at the 2 to 2 and half year mark. In addition I unfortunately was dependent on benzodiazepines several years ago and had what is called post acute withdrawal syndrome. It took me a full two years to recover. I was very sick and ALL of my symptoms remitted. So I do have some hope but am not sure that I will escape unscathed. If there is anyone who wants to share stories and support through email feel free to contact me at light_763@hotmail.com I am particularly interested in discussing the long term aspects of withdrawal. Thanks. Mike |
