Muscle Aches?
I have random muscle aches and have since I started tapering off.
My doctor thinks its fibromyalgia, the specialist/rheumatologist dosen't, it comes and goes randomly and I think its a side effect of w/d. Has anyone else had muscle aches? Is this the Paxil-Flu people talk about? Does it normally come and go at random? |

Re: Muscle Aches?
Yes, I have them.
Mine are located in the thighs. During WD I have had these plus knee and joint pain. So far I have been lucky enough not to experience neck or back pain. They should subside once you are off the meds, so I hope. There is eveidence that Paxil causes FM but I read it goes away once you are off. |

Re: Muscle Aches?
It is totally withdrawal... at least with me it is. I get sore muscles and joints for a while that come and go.

Re: Muscle Aches?
One of the things Paxil is very good at is mimicing fibromialgia, it is a very common topic here. The constant aches and pains caused by the drug was the main contributior to my drinking problems as massive amounts of vodka wee the only thing that touched it. I gave that up nine months ago when I started my taper and feel a lot better for the not drinking, but the pain is still there. It is sort of controlable with vicodin and yoga. I comes and goes, some days are fine and others I can hardly walk I hurt so bad.
I hope yours are short lived and mild. (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))

Re: Muscle Aches?
I have been off of Paxil Prozac and Wellbutrin for 6 months now.
The aches seem to be lessening quite a bit, but I think I am going through... "protracted withdrawal" (I think I got that right). I am hoping that as the w/d gets better with time, so will the muscle aches. Would I sound like a sap if I told you, this website is the best thing to ever happen to me (aside from DH Kids and God), and I basically love you all for telling your story?!? Im so glad you are here! |

Re: Muscle Aches?
How much were you taking and how did you taper?
I am tapering off for good, and every drop it hits me badly. And where does your aches occur? Usually FM has a set of tests. My aches are in my legs so I dont have it. |

Re: Muscle Aches?
I was on paxil 20mg, then later Zoloft 20mg, then I was taking 20mg Prozac and 300mg Wellbutrin, I tapered very slowly, over 2-3 years. I don't remember how long exactly.
The aches start in my shoulders/upper back. Then they spread to my arms and legs. It makes me tired. The blood test for autoimmune markers came up negative, I did not have pain in any of the 18 trigger points for FM. We ran tests for all sorts of things and everything "looks" healthy. The only thing that came up off was some liver function tests, but the liver specialist said it was fine. |

Re: Muscle Aches?
don't forget that stress and anxiety can cause muscle aches too. When we are in a high stress state , you tend to tense your muscles. People do get stressed out while tapering , especially when syptoms start.
If you are tapering it is probably that, I had horrible muscle pain and weakness, basically paxil flu.
