Working and Withdrawal?

How many of you were able to get off the paxil and still hold down jobs? I'm a cna and I'm on my feet all night. This ringing in the one ear is driving me crazy. The dizzyness is driving me crazy. I called in sick today but what about other days?

Actually since I am going very slow in withdrawing, I can still work. On my previous attempts, it was a different story (called sick a few times). I also tried to wean myself off while I was on vacation for a month but still was going too fast and could not handle it.

It is very hard to work and go through withdrawal. I took this week off and took FML (family medical leave). If were you work has over a certain number of employees and you've worked there long enough, you probably qualify for FML. All your doc has to do is fill out some paperwork. You can get up to 12 weeks. Take some time if you can. There was no way in hell I could have worked this week. My doc is familar with the withdrawal from Paxhell and she told me she'd fill out any paperwork needed. Hopefully your doc will too!

It depends on the severity of the withdrawal. Some people feel nothing and can work, for others it is hell and they have to quit their job (I think hope took a year off work, she is having a though time)
For myself, I am student so it was easier to get through it by not going to courses but still doing the work at home when I was feeling ok. I managed to be full time in winter 03, I took the summer off, was again full time in fall 03 and after that... the physical part of the withdrawal was for the most part finished but my anxiety problems came back full force so this session I am really struggling. There is 3 weeks to go to the session and I am not sure I will pass all my courses...
I encourage you to get a break from work... People are calling sick for a lot of health problems and I dont know why, because this is paxil withdrawal (not very known to doctors) we should not have the right to have a break! And I wish you have a more easy withdrawal then me : it was long and hard and I still have anxiety problems...

working

Hi,

I withdrew from the paxil way too fast and had very severe incapacitating withdrawal. I took a medical leave of absence for about 2 months and was hoping to be back at work before that. Never made it. Had to take the whole year off. I'm a teacher. It was 6 months before I felt capable of working at all. By then it was too late to start school so I ended up taking the whole year.

Put on Paxil in 1996 for Post-partum depression. After 5th withdrawal attempt, went into severe debilitating withdrawal, restarted Paxil in the ER which didn't work anymore. Taken off again quickly by a shrink, started on Lexapro. Body rejected all drugs except benzos. Currently off all drugs. I'd say I'm recovered. Yeah, I'd say so.

I have to say for me, that the first two weeks after my last paxil wasn't too bad. However, on day 15, It's been hard. I feel like I just want want to quit work, I seem to either want to cry, through up or go,go,go. It is VERY difficult to work and do well there while going through this.

Hoping it gets better soon. Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers to be free of this pain and torture!

I actually was able to work. I have been off for 4 weeks now and the really bad symptoms are over. That does not mean that everyone will be able too though. Being a CNA would have to be tough. I work in a very small office that no one really comes to However, when I came home from work.....that was a different story. My family had to just stay away from me for 3 weeks, either that or get their head chewed off!! Good luck, take care of yourself first though....I think for most people it is temporary...I hope you are in that percentile
