Anger problems going off of Paxil

I'm going out of my mind. I've been so irritable and quick to lose my temper now that I'm weened from Paxil. Even when I make a strong conscious effort to control my emotions I come across as angry or short. I had this problem before Paxil and I don't want it to send me back on it. Everyone who supported my detox are hinting that I should go back on. Not very encouraging.

Weaning and withdrawing from Paxil can cause ALOT of irritability and anger!!! Just think that your poor brain is trying to do. First high seratonin, then lower then lower then it starts to level out!! Its got to be really confusing for our brains. Alot of people report anger, irritability, but the good news is that it gets better!! This isn't a quick process, give it time, explain to your loved ones how your feeling. They will understand.

SlouchingPoet,

How 'bout natural remedies? Supplements.

I'm just learning and trying....ask Scott27. He seems to be up-to-speed on this. If nothing else....it's worth a try!

My best to you,

Toots.

Im not an expert and I still have my problems.. I just read a lot on it because Im desperate

The people you're around are trying to get you back on the drugs because they don't know how to help you. They realize how you were on the drugs. You have to do this for yourself. You're alone in the desert a thousand miles from civilization. You have to accept that you will feel these things coming off this drug. I had anger and even rage feelings coming off this drug and that was never my problem. I felt like throwing my cat out the front window because it was making too much noise. I wanted to hide all the light bulbs in the house because light bothered me and my sister couldn't seem to grasp this and turned them all on at night.. i wore sunglasses.. at night. I believe if the drugs work the way they claim then this anger is related to low levels of seratonin and your brain has to heal to former levels before you notice an effect. You may consider 5-htp which is good for seratonin health and anx/ depression.

Wow, that was pretty spot on. I've worn sunglasses to the computer before. And I'm an enormous animal-lover, never hurt an animal in my life, but jeez lately I've had to just lock myself up so as to not strangle my pets. I've never felt like that before.

A few days have passed and I'm feeling some better. I still snap without hesitation, and I've had to apologize alot. The guilt at being a misery to be around is the worst.

But thanks for the common ground. It feels good to know that I haven't just suddenly turned into an a**hole for no reason.

The best you can do is to tell those around you that you don't mean to act how you do and that this isn't how you'll always be. If you had the chickenpox they would expect you to be that way.. this is an invisible pain and they need to know how you're going to be because they dont get it.
