I read the post Darren, In your case I doubt if it's Paxil. It's probably some after-effects of your allergies that may have caused an inner ear infection. So, to answer your question. Yes, It's all in your head.....

head wierdness

Darren,

That sound in your ear like it's beating, I'v had that same sensation but only in my right ear. It coincides with my heartbeat.

Put on Paxil in 1996 for Post-partum depression. After 5th withdrawal attempt, went into severe debilitating withdrawal, restarted Paxil in the ER which didn't work anymore. Taken off again quickly by a shrink, started on Lexapro. Body rejected all drugs except benzos. Currently off all drugs. Not quite 100% yet, but working towards getting there.

Ok, Now I know what your talking about.. Remember that carotid arteries, which are the big blood vessels carrying blood from your heart to your brain, run on either side of your neck, near your ears. It's the inner noise of your pulse. It's usually a stress related symptom......Some people with Insomnia experience it as well...Stop worrying...!!!

ear thing

I swear I've had that sound in my ear since I quit paxil. It seems to come and go. You are so smart Mr. X. Now it you were only a little more tactful....

Also Darren, I used to have ringing in my ears on the paxil (tinnitis). Never had that pulsating in my ear ever until Paxil withdrawal. With withdrawal the sound changed to motors and machines. Odd huh what the nervous system does.

It might be complicated by buildup of fluid or something, but I think it's just another withdrawal effect. I experienced it starting around week 2 for a short while, especially while lying down. Everytime I would turn my head to the left I could hear something almost like a horse galloping (sounded like what you hear on pre-natal ultrasound). Sometimes it would turn into ringing or snapping (maybe this was zaps).

Nevertheless, it's not life threatening and it doesn't last long. Just don't dwell on it too much!

Take care! You're doing great!

Yes......I have it too.

It drives me nuts.

My hearing is really screwy through this.

I read a while back somebodey saying something about Paxil having decongestant properties....

I don't know how much truth there is to that....

But if that were the case..................

Might be right about decongestant properties. Haven't some people been given paxil for allergies?? And it help!
