Tremors
Hello again-
As you can see I'm new to this form and rarin' to go. Last November, I was prescribed 5mg of Ambien for sleep problems. It worked like a charm for my sleep and anxiety. Unfortunately my Dr. did not advise me not to take it longer than 7-10 days and not to quit it abruptly. Well I took it pretty consistantly for 3 months and quit cold turkey. Wow -- I had Paxil like withdrawals (shocking was the worst) and became so anxious. Almost immediately I noticed that I had this weird involuntary movement in my finger (left to right) and my feet mildly bounce up and down when I am cross-legged -- aka tremors. I saw a neurologist and she said this happens a lot and can take a year plus to go away. I made her give me a CAT scan and it came back 100% normal (I have withdrawn from Paxil 3 times prior to 2002 so this is good news everyone in terms of long term damage). Anyway, has anyone else had this problem and if so how long did it take to go away? |

I actually used to have this although it wasnt Paxil induced. Going to business lunches or dinners was horrible because I would get nervous about my hand shaking. If you are inthat situation you may want to think about giving your hands a good vigorous shake before you go to the lunch.

TREMORS
I had serious TREMORS with an attempted Paxil to Celexa taper in 2002. Everywhere below 10mg of Paxil, while above 10mg Celexa, I could not stop shaking. It was my entire body, non-stop, teeth-chattering limb-twitching TREMORS. I'd try to control my body twitches but would still feel the shaking in my chest and my teeth kept knocking together. The only way to control it was to go home and take a hot bath or try to sleep. I associated them with all the other symptoms that went along with PAXIL WITHDRAWAL.

Sage, my tremors where anxiety attack related really rather than paxil withdrawl related. These days I'm in much better shape mentally really and am much less prone to anxiety attacks. So I don't really get them these days although I get a little nervous about them coming back. If I have a dinner or lunch that I'm nervous about (rare these days thank god) I take a Calm and Calmer capsule (which has relora in it) and I'm ok... Think exercise also helps b4 anxious meetings etc. I used to go for a run before the mand it worked.

Hi Sage,
I have been off of Ambien now for over a week (after being on it for 4.5 months). Ive also been off of Paxil for over 2 weeks as well. I didnt know what wtihdrawals were from what.... I had anxiety, hand swellling, tightness in back and arms... light headedness, headachy feeling. Also have had trouble sleeping.... of course. Am doing so much better this week. I am actually sleeping through the night and I the aches and pains and anxiety too has subsided quite a bit. How are you? |
