Xanax only has a 500 thousand percent markup. Sweet!

http://vitacorp.icthus.net/articles/...on_drugs.shtml

Try not to throw up and sell your house. Paxil's markup is only a consumer friendly 2,898% markup. How very gracious of GSK.

Welcome to capitalism! How delicious. I'll take another heaping shovel please.

*gag*

Yeah, the basic cost. Marketing, Research etc are not included.

Never realized that these markups would be so expensive.

Market yes, research no. I can't find the reference at the moment, but they's spend tons less on research than most industries, and much more on advertising then all industries.

They outmarket McDonald's and that's saying something! Hmm, their products are similar too...fast ingestibles for immediate relief of something, hunger, anxiety, whatever.

I just think it's a belief problem. Our culture for the most part believes illness and hunger are inconvenient during the pursuit of money and objects. If it's fast food or fast drugs, they're both used with the same psychological need system.

I can also compare antidepressants to cosmetics if you'd like.

Oh, I can so visualize this:

Hi, welcome to McHappy. Can I take your order?
Yeah uhm a, I'll take uhm a, double McPaxil burger, with uhm a, extra Prozickles and uhm a, extra sized diaz coke. W-W-Wait don't forget mah straw! (nudge nudge, coke, nudge nudge) And uhm a, I'll take a McHappy meal for my son, and for the toy we'll uhm a have the Pokepillcutter doll. No, hang on a second, my bad, I'll uhm a have the Riddliner Batman action figure instead. Mah wife's not eating tonight, she's at home playing with this new forum thing and refused to come.

Great, that'll be $149, please withdraw to *ZAP!* (intercom or your head, you can't tell) the first window.

Crap...I wrote this huge beautiful and genius message, only to hit a hot key to close the current window accidentally and lost it all. *SOB*

I'll summarize:

A)Being depressed over the loss of a husband/wife for more than 2 weeks, is considered an illness by the DSM IV. Being natural, is not normal, so you reach for SSRIs.

B)Having grey hair at 25 is considered not beautiful. Being natural, is not normal, so you reach for hair dyes.

A) & B)Fat kids feel the pressure of both sides at once. Being overweight is not beautiful, so beauty products are sought. The emotional hardship of receiving daily judgment and ridicule makes a child unruly in the school system, so they label them as defficient (not behaviorally beautiful) and they toss drugs at them. Then they'll also confuse their understanding with "say no to drugs" messages, and wonder why they have no resistance to managing their fat-label related depression with marijuana, or frequent sexual partners. From the sub/conscience, it's the same.

Then my last poignant sentence, and I always try to find something quotable if you've noticed my other posts over the years hehe:

Humanity is a judgmental ocean of kids who think having MORE judgment, qualifies them as adults, and they got this way from noticing their adult role models do the same. Beauty products and SSRIs, are some of the denial tools we use to keep ourselves from admitting to any self betrayal.

Never be normal. Be natural. It's the only way you can be, naturally.

We talked about the price markups awhile back.

Here's a link to a study done on price markups on pharmaceuticals:

The feds and pharmaceutical companies are in bed together to screw the consumers. Even the new Medicare Drug Card is a joke since there are no price controls in effect on prescription drugs here in the states.

This year's fed election in the USA is a joke. Its all based on fear. So the population is going to vote for whomever they think is the toughest guy rather than the guy who will take care of the country domestically as well as internationally. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Don't get me going.

This is one election that I really wish I was a US citizen so I could vote.

But Laurie, whenever anyone blinks, your appearance blinks out of existence.

If Laurie dyes her hair in the forest, and there's nobody there to see, does it really change color? LOL!
