Before Paxil I had to force myself to eat. I was always underweight. When I first reached my adult height (5" 4 1/2") I weighed all of 89 pounds.

While on Paxil I gained weight, peaked at 182 pounds. These days I am around 160-something. I would like to loose another 20 pounds. I have decided to wait until after I get completely off paxil to actively pursue this goal.

Even on a much lower dose of paxil than originally, I still have a strong appetite. Some days I feel so hungry it seems like I am eating non-stop.

I believe I will go back to "normal" after I am completely off paxil. Since most people going cold turkey off meds seem to have prolonged withdrawal symptoms, I would guess that applies to the appetite and weight issues too. So I am guessing that will get better in time too.
Summer 1999 stress overload, declining health
December 1999 Doctor diagnoses depression & anxiety, 20mg paxil.
January 2000 to May 2009 Paxil dosage rises to 40mg. Numerous failed attempts to quit.
June to July 2009 too fast taper, wind up in ER. Read paxilprogress and decide to stabilize at 30mg.
Sept '09 through summer '11 slowly tapered to 9mg.
Aug '11 Updosed to 14mg
Continue taper at 5% each month
As of June 2012 10mg.

Depending on whether you are a male or female, hunger can be affected by that time of the month. When I'm on my period, I eat everything in sight. At the beginning of my taper I was so hungry and actually gained weight and now it has gotten better and I find it hard to eat a full meal. So it really does get better.
