Thyroid question

Okay so I go for blood work next week to find out if I have hypothyroidism. This would certainly explain the negative reaction to Citalopram, low blood sugar, ovarian cysts and this ongoing depression/anxiety and dp/dr and brain fog issues I have. I honestly feel like I'm dying inside and it feels physiological. Sometimes I just feel this impending doom and my blood sugar levels are fine. And I have no energy anymore at all.

Does anyone else have any opinions about my situation? I'm a little worried that I have to wait until next week for medical help with this. Does anyone have any comfort that I will be fine until then? Ugh so ready for this to be over!!!

Re: Thyroid question

I'm going to be honest here. Because so many of us have the exact same phsychological symptoms, I'd say either we all have w/d or we have have a thyroid issue. Not saying you won't have an issue with thyroid. Some of the physical symptoms do sound like it could be thyroid, but as we all know these symptoms could all be mimicking many different things. Its always great to get medically checked, in order to things out though. I do have to say, I've been having low sugars too and I'm feeling very physically weak these past couple of months. When my panic/anxiety came on almost 3 mnths ago, I have also having crazy palpitations, racing heart not stop, even in my sleep. It had the full cardiac testing done and they found nothing. Needless to say, those symptoms have settled but now I'm always shaky with low sugars and feeling so weak. I'm starting to think these could also be factors of what we're going through. Our bodies definately are taking a toll over all this mental anguish (very high stress). I think its great that you're looking into things and looking after yourself. In the mean time, take comfort in the fact that most of us feel all these things too. As for the missed periods etc, that's soooo common when under stress. And if you're anything like me, this is the wrost stress of my life!! Hang in there. Hopefully others will have some comforting words to add! PM me anytime if you'd like.

Re: Thyroid question

Oh honey, you will definitely be fine! Even though you have to wait for the tests, etc. Good thing is, if it's hypothyroid, it is totally treatable and fixable!!!

I'm sorry you are going through this... but I'm glad you are getting close to an answer!

Re: Thyroid question

Thank you guys very much! I think my constant brain fog/dream state and complete lethargy is a strong indicator to me that this is what it is. And I think I already had this in my life but the SSRI exacerbated it big time.

Re: Thyroid question

If you did have this prior to the SSRI, perhaps you are onto something then. Perhaps the w/d just enhanced it all. I pray that you get some answers. I know how awful it is to wait and wonder..... you'll get through it

I certainly didn't have the depression, depersonalization or derealization. When I look back I can see where some of the brain fog was an issue for me in a milder more annoying form. But when I look back on my past medical history I have always struggled with fatigue, infections, sensitivity to cold, IBS issues and more. Also an inability to lose weight no matter what my diet or exercise has been like.
