job ideas?

So I'm going to be graduating in may from university with a marketing degree. I want to start tapering zoloft so I need to find a career where I don't have to be on top of my game at all times (def no sales), pay doesnt matter since ill be living at home. What does everyone on here do for work while going through all of this? I need to win the lotto..

Re: job ideas?

I work 3 hours a morning in a daycare, it's easy being brain dead and doing it. I wouldn't have taken the job otherwise. I'd been a stay at home Mom for 5 years and used to work full-time as an animal health technician. There is no way I could go back to my "real" job right now. I only just started working a month ago and I did it because it got me outside of my house and head, my kids can come with me if hubby can't take them to school, the shifts are short and it's just around teh corner. I don't have to think at all. The challenge is being up-beat and attentive, but it's only 3 hours, and not necessarily everyday. It's enough for now. My husband makes cabinets and runs the business, so i help him occassionally too., but that's just driving to pick up orders for material. I am so grateful I didn't experience this when I was younger and alone and working full time. I don't know what I would have done. God is merciful though, He timed it better than that for me!

Re: job ideas?

That's what I'm thinking, I need a job to get outside of my head. Almost thinking going back to school is a better option than trying to stress over finding a job to start paying student loans.

Re: job ideas?

I work as a highschool teacher, I teach english tho my english is pretty awful, lol... please don't tell the principal! :P
I work only mondays and wednesdays from 7:30am to 4:00pm, it's very exhausting, I have to yell a lot, I have to write on the board a lot, I have to asses lots of stuff, but most of the time I can deal with the job, I panic a lot but I just try to stay calm, it's difficult.

The rest of the days I just stay at home and try to study, to play guitar, or I just watch t.v., I don't go out too much cause it scares me, I can't tolerate very little.

I don't know what a marketing graduate does ;(
What jobs do you have in mind?

Re: job ideas?

I know exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life when I have a "clear" head, a personal trainer/wellness coach. It really crushed me because I thought I knew a lot about natural health and didn't need the ssri's anymore. I realized a lot of the other prescriptions I was taking could have brought on depression pre-ssri use (prevacid for GERD can lead to b12 deficiency, ended up replacing that with hcl). Then the depression sunk in, I found these forums and I realize now it's going to take a long time and no amount of knowledge I have about supplementation can ease the effects of zoloft withdrawal. BUT, speaking with clients all day will take a lot of brain power I'm not going to have, I have an open mind to just about any job that's easy or would allow me to work from home. I'm also praying that my brother-in-law ends up saving the day with his alternative chiropractic therapies that has worked wonders on people with brain dysfunction.

Re: job ideas?

I posted a topic on quantum neurology and it was pretty much laughed at by everyone else here on the board, pretty much everything involved in chiropractic work is labeled as pseudoscience but he's shown me quite a few things and I've got an open mind to the stuff now. He hasn't learned any of the stuff related to quantum neurology yet but it gives me a little hope.

Re: job ideas?

I work as a RN, which means I have to think and be alert. I have found staying busy helps me to get out of my head. It's the times that I don't have anything to do that are the worst for me. I can completely understand how a stressful job could make withdrawal worse. Luckily, even though nursing is very stressful, I don't feel too stressed on the job. I think that being able to help other people has been very healing for me. Nothing helps me forget about my problems more than helping other people with theirs. I hope you find something that works for you!!!

Re: job ideas?

I think you're definitely right on that, just having a routine job to go to will help the time pass. Anyone else have jobs they've been able to function at without taking too much time off while going through withdrawal?

Re: job ideas?

Pseudoscientists often add "quantum" to the name of their quackery, to make it sound more sciency.

Re: job ideas?

The founder of the program is a pretty well respected chiropractor though, has a nutritional protocol which has had good success in treating cancer.

Re: job ideas?

I think a manual job, where you could be busy in body but not have to think too much, and not be accountable for anything serious, like giving meds, or doing brain surgery...would be perfect. I often thought I could handle something routine like factory work, or sorting mail, or milking cows....but for me I would have to have someone to work with, someone nice that I could chat with to keep the anxiety at bay. I worked alone in a craft store when all this began and found my anxiety got worse because i was alone all day and hardly even had customers. It was too slow, not enough to do and no one to chat with.

Re: job ideas?

What about bagging groceries? You interact with customers, but it's not in a very stressful way and the job requirement are straightforward.
