How much should i spend for the cure?

Guys,

I would like to know how much should i spend on the therapy...

Now that i am on medication,i will not visit pdoc any more...

My medical expenses were 3200$ last year...even with a good insurance plan..

I dont want my savings to be taken away at this rate...especially i am now unsure abt my future...

Re: How much should i spend for the cure?

There is no 'cure' but cognitive behavioural therapy can certainly make you feel cured.

Personally, there is no amount that I wouldn't spend because I know how valuable therapy can be. But ultimately, it's up to you.

I would choose mental health and stability over a savings account every day. Once you're well again - there will be plenty of time to re-build savings.

Also, savings are exactly for times like these, a buffer when you need it - and mental health is a need.

At one point I was seeing a therapist every week (for at least 6 months) and it cost 220/session - insurance covered 80% but it still added up very quickly and was eating into our potential to save. But, to be honest - what I gained from therapy is worth all the money in the world. Now I go every 3 weeks. Probably switch to once a month and then stop. But, I do have a pdoc who see's me for an hour a week and we talk - so I am in a lucky position.

Bottom line, spend what you need to get well.

Also, you say you have cyberchondria. Do you NEED internet access at home? If not, cut your internet - get a phone without a data plan and cold turkey internet searching.
