Question about possible withdrawal symptoms?

Okay, so my PCP wanted to up my dosage to 15 mg. I had been taking 10 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg at night. I seemed to be doing good, so I was wary about increasing since that dosage was working for me. But I increased it to 15 mg (total) anyway. However, I didn't like the way it made me feel after three days of taking the higher dose, so I went back down to the 10+2.5 dosage. The problem is now a week later my anxiety symptoms are starting to come back a little, and I'm having like mini panic attacks that last not even a minute, though the physical symptoms linger for a while afterwards. I've got occasional dizziness and shakiness in my hands and body in general. It started almost exactly a week after I had went back down on my dose. I also have allergies though we think, so some of it could be from those.

But my question is, can such a small dose, that I'd only been on for not even a week, give me withdrawal symptoms? I just want to know if I can associate my symptoms with withdrawal or if it might just be allergies or something else. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Question about possible withdrawal symptoms?

I think it's very unlikely that being on 15mg for 3 days changed anything enough to give you withdrawal when you dropped back down. Anxiety can crop up for all sorts of reasons and it's probably not connected.

Re: Question about possible withdrawal symptoms?

Hi schroern,

Were you prescribed metaprolol for a medical condition or anxiety?

Re: Question about possible withdrawal symptoms?

Anytime I have went up and then down quickly I have felt off for a while, but it usually settles in a week or 2. Hope you feel better soon.
