First Time Post on Paxilprogress. Here goes.....

Hi all this is my first time post - I'm so pleased Ive fund this forum as I am struggling to find someone to talk to about my issues in London, Uk.

MY BACKGROUND

I was given on Paroxetine in 2004 for Post Traumatic Stress after I was badly beating up by an unprovoked attack. I felt instant comfort in the drug and continued with my life until I tried to come off it. The doctors I went to in London were really clueless about the serious issues with weaning off the drug and I came off too quickly and crashed. It happened again about 4 years ago.

THE HERE AND NOW
This is the 3rd time I've tried to come off Paroxetine but now I'm using the liquid form and am more confident of succeeding no matter what happens.
In past 9 months I've carefully gone from 20mg to 5mg [feeling good] - 2 weeks ago I went down to 4mg but I am now having a bad wobble.
I'm suffering from awful insomnia and acute anxiety and am very weepy.
I need a decent few hours to function in my job and have been getting 2/3 hours which has added to my problem.
Is it the Post Traumatic Stress anxiety resurfacing or is it pure withdrawals?
I've made an appointment to see a councellor regarding this but can anyone offer any advice regarding the sleeping and anxiety.

I know what all you brave people are going through and I wish everyone of you the best of luck in conquering your Paxil troubles.

Thanks,
Ian [Redrico]

can you list your tapering history in your signature please?

the only way to get off of seroxat (paxil in US) with minimal side effects is 10% drops every 3-6 weeks.

those drops are way too big.

no wonder you dont feel too great at the moment.

open this spreadsheet - it gives you the 10% wean drops (it says every 14 days but that a mistake - it is meant to be every 3-6 weeks)

Thank you Julie Ann - it's an incredible thread,
I will follow the 10% buffer from now on.

Are you finding anyone in England who offers good support too. [Obviously everyone on here is a massive help]. It's scary the lack of aweness about this in UK regarding Paroxetine.
