Help in the UK

Is there good withdrawal help in the UK [in person/phone/email] - I would really like to talk to someone on the phone - to connect with someone who has the same issues as I do. Sometimes i feel I'm all alone in this withdrawal. My girlfriend is very helpful and I'm so grateful of that but I'd appreciate some expert guidance and understanding from someone who has been here before and is currently going through it.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,
Ian

Re: Help in the UK

Hello!

I am - this is the 3rd time I've tried to come off Paroxetine but now I'm using the liquid form and am more confident of succeeding no matter what happens.
In past 9 months I've carefully gone from 20mg to 5mg [feeling good] - 2 weeks ago I went down to 4mg but I am now having a bad wobble.

what you may think is a slow wean isnt.

i, like you, was on 20mg - in total i am looking at a 19 month taper.

you should drop no more than 10% every 3-6 weeks.

so going from 5mg to 4mg is way too big. it should be 4.5mg - to keep within the 10% range.

ian - this site will blow your mind - people on here know what they are talking about. Majority of doctors know nothing when it comes to getting off of this junk.

the 10% way every 3-6 weeks is the only way to do this. Patience is the key.

i wish that i would have found this site years ago.this site has saved my life by advising people to taper SLOWLY.

stick around.

Re: Help in the UK

That's really helpful advice and thank you for taking the time to reply.
Today I feel quite steady for the first time in a fortnight but will wait a bit before I consider the next drop [including the 10% limit]
You are right too - patience is the key. Its' scary in the difference 0.5 ml can obviously make to your wellbeing though.

Are you on the liquid yourself?
Do you have any sleep issues now?

Thanks

2nd taper
20mg - April 2008
15mg - May 2008
10mg - July 2008
5mg - Sept 2008
0 - Nov 2008
20mg - Dec 2009

recent taper - Liquid
20-10mg - July - Oct 2012
9mg - Nov 2012
8mg - Dec 2012
7mg - Jan 2012
6mg - Feb 2012

after i discovered this site last summer - i went to the doc and asked for liquid in order to taper. i took the liquid at 20mg for the first two weeks in order for my body to get used to seroxat in liquid form then i started tapering.

you probably know this but never miss a days' dose and try and take seroxat around the same time everyday.

when i was on 20mg i could sleep up to 4 hours in the afternoon on a weekend despite having 10 hours sleep. when i started tapering my naps reduced alot.
now i am on 8.4mg my napping has increased again.

one of the best advice tips is withdrawal symptoms isnt straight forward - it can change all the time.

i am hoping to get off of seroxat next march - obviously this can change - people say it is best to throw any date for getting off out of the window, just go slow. After you take the last dose it can take about a year for the brain to return back to baseline.
so patience is the key.
