Advice/Encouragement?

Hi All,

I want to express how I have been feeling. I started to go to the 18 mg..4 days ago and I am starting to feel weepy/sad/fatigue. I have some things going on in my life..my sister just moved 6 months ago to another state, I take care of a close family member, and my husband is in nursing school full-time. I am the only bread winner and I can't be out of commission. Am I coming off paxil at the wrong time? I am flustrated. I know I will have some bad days when weaning...but I am doing everything right. The only reason I am coming off paxil is to have a baby. I guess I feel like I have no one to talk to sometimes about this because I feel like everyone thinks I am causing this! I am taking the compounding form-could this have anything to do with it? I think I am PMSing too.......lol...........I am just a mess haha. Just looking for some inspiration/advice.

There might not be a right time to wean. If you can't be out of commission then wean very very slowly, so symptoms are milder. If 10% drops are too much, try 5%. At least your dose will be going in the right direction. Boost yourself by learning some good coping skills, such as positive affirmations and relaxation exercises.

Re: Advice/Encouragement?

It sounds like a pretty typical reaction to a drop, especially if the PMS is getting involved. I know what your saying about being sole breadwinner, I'm in the same tough spot. From your signature it looks like you may be going a little fast between drops, maybe taking another week or two between drops will help.

We are always here to listen, so keep talking to us.

Re: Advice/Encouragement?

You'll be ok, you're roughly at where I am, I just dropped to 17.5mg last month. I'm using a pill splitter right now so I'm cutting them in eighths which is 1.25mg, which isn't even 10% (well once I hit 12.5mg that will 10% lol) I'm going slow, and so far so good. My troublesome symtoms don't seem to have anything to do with my taper so I blame them on earlier issues from coming off Effexor too fast last year. We can do this!

2005-2010 Effexor XR 112.5mg-262.5mg for PPD
June-Dec 2010 Poop-out (crash)
3 month cross taper off Effexor onto 40mg Cipralex, switched to 20mg Celexa, switched to 20mg Paxil
Nothing helped except waiting 7 months to stabilize on Paxil then starting to taper:
Oct'11 to Nov '12 20mg-10mg
March'13 to Feb'14 9mg -4mg
Feb 7/14-4.0mg
April 1/14-3.6mg
