Hi Shane,
I do not know why you wear glasses but the eyefloaters can be owed to the nearsightedness and worsened in W/D.It is my case especially when I feel stressed like now.

Hi Shane,

Mine floater greatly improved once I was off all meds.

I notice that when I drink alot of coffee, I notice it more. Or maybe I am more awake

I can't obviously promise they will disappear but I think I feel safe saying that they will improve as you get lower in your med dose.

Eye floaters happen to everyone, so to say you're stuck with them forever is kind of true. But, they are worse in w/d and will lessen as time goes on.

Yep, I developed floaters in my early 20's (way before I ever took a psych drug) and still have them, but they're no worse now then they were then and I almost never notice them anymore.

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

i noticed mine much much more earlier in withdrawal and during poop out. they are significantly better now. still there, but i don't really notice them about 90% of the time. the other 10% of the time i notice them but they don't bug me. it's part of life, and at first it makes sense that you would freak out about something in your vision you can't do anything about. just the idea of them can be very anxiety-inducing. but you learn to live with them, and while you do that your brain starts to filter them out better. just writing this made me notice them for the first time today. it's interesting. but they are harmless. annoying sometimes but harmless. some people suggest they go away or disolve to a certain degree over time but i don't know that that has ever really been proven. i noticed my first ones after a severe anxiety attack in my teens. had them ever since though i'd swear there was a period of time when i didn't notice them at all for years when my anxiety was totally under control. i would go so far as to guess that everyone has them to a degree but anxious minds just don't filter them out as well. i went to a specialist one time and was shocked at how they really had no good explanation for them and could tell me virtually nothing about them. they said i had them because i had poor eyesight and was getting old. i was 30 at the time. one more reason i have trouble putting much faith in doctors. it seems the more education they have the less they know sometimes. but they were happy to have me come back every 3 months and charge me like $100 (after insurance) each time just to keep tabs on my visual health. i told them to shove it.

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

The term "eye floaters" I think has been used a bit loosely at times. Here is how the mayo clinic describes them.

"Eye floaters look like black or gray specks, strings or cobwebs that drift about when you move your eyes. Most eye floaters are caused by age-related changes that occur as the jelly-like substance (vitreous humor) inside your eyes becomes more liquid.

When this happens, microscopic fibers within the vitreous humor tend to clump together and can cast tiny shadows on your retina, which you may see as eye floaters. "

This is the exact description I would give my eye floaters. They started after quiting paxil and they still persist today. I don't know if I'm stuck with them for ever or if the body will slowly re-absorb the clumps? My eye doctor didn't seem worried about them but didn't really offer any advice either. I have no idea if it's related to paxil withdrawl. I don't see how it would be but you never know.

I think a better question with more interesting results would be "Who out there does not have floaters?"

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

I developed (or maybe started noticing) floaters the first time I tried going off Paxil. Eventually, they got better. I don't know if they're completely gone, or I just stopped being aware of them and learned to look past them at the actual world. And there is still some general blurriness to my vision, but it's improved, I think, and it no longer causes me undue anxiety

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

i think floaters have something to do with an overly hyper-sensitive nervous system..ive had them every since my reaction, never before..ever since ive been so sensitive to light and being sensitive to light still persists today so i know for a fact i am not recovered and feel my floaters are caused by this... when i do hard exercise, such as playing soccer, and my hearts beating fast, i can see my beat in my vision..its sounds weird but u know when you push your eye from the side or if you cough really hard and you see alittle blackish spot for a second? i can see my heart beat (or my nerves beat) just like that...thats how 'hurt and damaged' i feel from my reaction

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

I developed floaters about 10 years ago while I was on Paxil, and not feeling particularly anxious. I found them annoying but not disabling. They got a lot worse about a year ago and triggered a ton of anxiety. It's my understanding that they happen to most people to some degree with age, and are permanent. I think we just adapt and get used to them and learn not to notice them as much. I've noticed when I am feeling anxious my floaters bother me a lot more (well, everything bothers me a lot more).

Some floaters will settle down to the bottom of the eye where they are not noticeable; that's what I've read. But mine continue to float where I can see them. Some may have gone away, but most are still visible.

Re: What about Eye Floaters Guys? are they permanent??

I developed a TON of floaters about 2 months ago. It's like they just hit me over night. I've been to the opthamologist, and he found nothing to be concerned about. I need to learn to just live with it, but for now they bug the CRAP out of me and cause more anxiety.
